Thankfully for these two co-stars, the rumours don’t seem to trouble them. Actress Qasrina Karim and actor Meerqeen, who play exes in their new series “Thariq Ridzuwan: His Treasure”, have sparked speculation among fans about whether their on-screen chemistry extends off-screen. For context, “Thariq Ridzuwan: His Treasure” tells the story of Thariq Ridzuwan (played by Meerqeen), an elite officer from the Holy Dragon unit, who receives the shocking news that his former lover, Husniya Radwa (played by Qasrina Karim), is being forced into marriage by her mother, Rozita. Despite being separated for 5 years, Thariq abandons his mission to rescue Radwa.
Since the series premiered on Astro One in July, fans have speculated about whether the two stars are an item, given their undeniable on-screen chemistry. Speaking to mStar, the 29-year-old actress clarified that they are simply colleagues and nothing more. “If people are making those assumptions, it means we’re compatible and achieved what we set out to do. I don’t mind being associated with Meerqeen, but the truth is, we’re just friends. If you want to see us as a couple, then you can watch us in this drama,” she said.
Although the dating rumours did not trouble her, the criticism of her acting did take an emotional toll. As the series is adapted from a novel, fans frequently compared Qasrina’s performance with the source material, claiming she was not the right fit for the character. “I’m human, so of course, the comments bothered me at first. It was difficult to tap into the character when you’re overwhelmed with negative emotions,” she stated.
