If you haven’t noticed, Malaysian actress Nora Danish has adopted a more modest appearance in the past few months. The 42-year-old star has admitted to getting more involved in Islam after entering her 40s.
Most recently, the star opened up about her past image before she started wearing the hijab. The actress was once known for her sexier appearance, often wearing sleeveless tops and off-the-shoulder dresses. However, Nora said that she has since given away all of her sexier clothing to her non-Muslim friends. She added that she didn’t dare to sell them to her Muslim friends as she didn’t want to “bear the sin” of encouraging immodesty.
At the same time, the actress revealed that she’s currently deleting old photos where she appeared too sexy or wasn’t wearing the hijab. Nora said, “I need to delete all the photos on my Instagram where I’m not covering my aurah, but it’s taking time because the total photos I have on my account is around 26,000”. The star said she had already deleted a few thousand photos but added that she needed to go through each one.
Nora expressed regret over her past image, saying, “When I look at old photos, I say to myself, “What was I thinking back then?”.” However, the star said she might not have made the effort to change if she never went through that phase in her life. She also said that she often prays to continue receiving blessings and to be surrounded by good people who will motivate her to remain modest.
Nora’s divorce from ex-husband Nedim Nazri in June 2024 also motivated her to be more involved in religion. She had previously attended religious events with celebrity friends. However, the star became more active in attending talks and seminars after her divorce to be closer to Islam. She also noted that a few men became interested in her after she adopted a more modest image, but said she’s comfortable being single for now.
Nora does seem happier after being more involved in her religion, so we wish her all the best in her journey.
