Back in 2021, acclaimed actress Christina Applegate opened up about her struggles with multiple sclerosis (MS), a nerve fibre damage caused by the immune system targeting the spinal cord and brain. To make matters even worse, she later found out that she was suffering from Sapovirus infection, a viral infection typically transmitted through faecal-oral contact.
In a candid reflection on her recent health struggles, the American celebrity, who is renowned for her role in the 2022 Netflix hit “Dead To Me”, had a frank discussion on her MeSsy podcast with fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, shedding light on the realities of grappling with her recent health issues.
In the latest podcast episode, the “Bad Moms” star’s account delves into a broader context when she revealed she contracted the Covid-19 virus through a close acquaintance, leading to her experiencing severe symptoms including vomiting and chest infection. However, upon taking a stool test, she found out she was diagnosed with Sapovirus infection.
The Golden Globe nominee stated that she may have caught the virus after consuming salad from a restaurant that was facing closure unexpectedly, possibly ingesting faecal matter at the time. She also added how having Multiple Sclerosis and Sapovirus wasn’t a great combo as it affects her bladder control.
Detailing the onset of her ordeal, she humorously recalled her vivid experience of waking up in the early hours of the morning to a distressing discovery. “I woke up at 3 o’clock in the morning in a pool of shit. Didn’t know it happened, and having MS at 3 o’clock in the morning and trying to change your sheets, it’s not fun,” she described.
The situation really took a toll on her ever since it unfolded, disrupting her from getting her routine done. In the podcast, the mother-of-one sadly revealed how she wasn’t able to visit her family, particularly her brother’s newborn as the condition made her tired most of the time. “I’m almost going on three weeks of being sick from this. So that’s my fun story”, she expressed.
On the bright side of things, the Primetime Emmy Award winner claimed that she received immense support from family and fans throughout her health journey, completely grateful as it gave her ultimate strength. Not just that, Christina Applegate now has strong opinions on the practicality of adult diapers.
She and Jamie-Lynn Sigler criticised the design of adult diapers during the recording of the “Can I Be Honest?” podcast episode, sharing their thoughts while trying to wrap their heads around making adult diapers ‘fancy’ or ‘pretty’ considering their purpose.
