Whenever a celebrity comes out as queer, it is typically met with either supportive messages from fans or backlash from those holding prejudiced views. A certain actress recently made her sexual identity known in an Instagram post which shocked many but not for the reasons one might think.
Over the weekend, actress Chloë Grace Moretz finally confirmed her sexuality as a gay woman in an Instagram post endorsing presidential candidate Kamala Harris. In the heartfelt message, the Hollywood star wrote, ” I believe the government has no right over my body as a woman, and that the decisions over my body should come ONLY from myself and my doctor. I believe in the need for legal protections that safeguard the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman. We need protection in this country and access to the care we require and deserve.”
Usually, fans would congratulate their favourite artist on coming out, but in the case of the 27-year-old actress, many were left confused. Scrolling through social media, it seemed that fans were under the impression that Chloë had already come out as queer, given her long-term public relationship with model Kate Harrison since 2018. The two were even rumoured to be engaged after being spotted with rings on their fingers during a visit to Disneyland earlier this year.
According to several reports, this is actually the first time the former child actress has publicly addressed her sexual orientation; she had only confirmed that she was in a relationship. Some fans were not surprised by the news, as they had either known or suspected this ever since she began dating the model after breaking up with Brooklyn Beckham. Regardless, netizens were happy for the “Greta” star for finally making it official.
