There have been many cases of celebrities facing financial troubles, but is actor Farid Kamil one of those stars? News outlets recently reported that the star’s terrace house was listed in a public auction, prompting media speculation.
According to news outlets, a two-storey terrace house in Bandar Saujana Putra in Selangor was recently listed in a public auction, happening later this month on 22nd January 2025 (Wednesday). However, the house reportedly belonged to Farid Kamil Zahari, the Malaysian actor. According to the listing, the 1,760 sqm home was purchased in 2011 for RM330,000 and is up for auction for RM522,000.

Farid and his manager, Azahari Hamid, have responded to the news, admitting that the house belonged to the actor. However, Farid was unaware of the upcoming auction until the reports surfaced. According to the star, he hasn’t lived at the property in over ten years and has rented it out since 2019. He added that the tenant was paying the rent directly to the bank, and the public figure never heard of any issues with the repayment.
After receiving reports of the auction, Farid and Azahari met the tenant to get an explanation. The actor’s manager said the tenant admitted to having faced difficulties with loan repayment since mid-2024, likely due to financial issues, and hasn’t paid the bank for several months. However, the individual has promised to settle the overdue payment as soon as possible.

It’s also reported that Malaysian director David Teo was the one who gifted the house to Farid following the success of a project the two worked on. David has since reacted to the news, revealing to a news outlet that he paid the down payment for the property as a token of appreciation for the star. He also said that he would’ve offered to purchase the house from the actor if he had known about the loan repayment issue.
As of reporting, Farid and his manager are working with the tenant to settle the repayment issue. They also ask the public to refrain from speculating about the matter.
