At least 2 shopping malls in the Klang Valley have confirmed that their outlets were recently visited by patrons who had tested positive for Covid-19.
The aforementioned outlets are A-Saloon (at Melawati Mall) and Fitness First (at IOI Mall Puchong). Rest assured that precautionary measures have been carried out by the managements.
Melawati Mall revealed that a customer had previously entered A-Saloon last Monday (2nd March). The person had subsequently confirmed to have been infected with coronavirus. As such, the beauty outlet “has been suspended immediately following the notification of the case” until further notice.
The mall in Taman Melawati announced that “deep cleaning and thorough sanitisation of the tenant’s premises and surrounding common areas will be carried out in accordance with guidelines from the health authorities“. A-Saloon also stated that staffs are being send for screening at designated health facilities and have to undergo self-quarantine for 14 days.

In addition, a similar incident took place at the Fitness First gym at IOI Mall Puchong. Earlier on Monday (9th March), the gym centre was closed for a sanitisation process after it was made aware that a gym member tested positive for Covid-19 had visited the venue in the last 2 weeks.
When asked, Fitness First Malaysia confirmed that they had indeed carried out disinfection and sanitation exercise on 6th March and 9th March. The management has also urged members who feel unwell to avoid working out at the gym and seek immediate medical attention.
These are scary times indeed. As of last night, Malaysia currently has a total of 129 cases (including 12 new cases). That number will most likely increase in the coming days.
