Mid Autumn Festival is a month from now but we’ve already gotten a head start on some mooncakes.
If salted egg yoke isn’t your thing, then we’ve got a better alternative. Inside Scoop is not only back with their handmade ice cream mooncakes, but there is also a giant 7.5-inch snow skin mooncake called The Supermoon.
Our previous favourite ice cream mooncake was the Cempedak flavour, but these 4 distinctive Inside Scoop ice cream flavours are equally delicious. It’s hard to pick a favourite, so we’d recommend getting a box of 4 pieces for RM100 (the 2-piece box costs RM60).
- Rocher (with nutty base) – Chocolate hazelnut (just like Nutella) set on a layer of crunchy nutty base will literally send you to the moon and back. It is delicately finished with a layer of strawberry chocolate velvet coating and a gold dusted chocolate seal.
- Durian (with a chocolate ganache yolk) – Each mooncake has chocolate ganache yolk, and is wrapped in green snow skin, much like the real thing.
- Unicorn (with a raspberry yolk) – Their Unicorn flavour gained popularity for its sweet and tangy combination of blue milk ice cream (stained with blue pea flower) and
Raspberry Yoghurt ice cream. This mooncake has a raspberry center, and is wrapped in white snow skin. - Matcha (with a black sesame yolk) – This Matcha mooncake has a passionfruit chocolate velvet coating, and it cuts into a rich, aromatic green tea ice cream. That’s not all. One can expect to find a nutty black sesame ganache in this mooncake. All these flavours sit on top of a thin feuilletine base.
Meanwhile, The Supermoon might just be big enough to cover your face. The 800-gram mooncake has raspberry jelly, on top of a crunchy chocolate base meticulously wrapped in yellow snow skin. There’s also Pistachio ice cream inside of it. For RM115, The Supermoon can feed between 10 – 12 people.
These mooncakes are already available at all Inside Scoop stores and can also be purchase online. There will also be Inside Scoop mooncake booths at Sunway Velocity (21st August – 13th September) and 1 Utama (29th August – 13th September).
