The Japan Square Watermelon has arrive in Malaysia.
According to Places and Foods writer Wilson Ng, the beloved fruit was sighted at the supermarket section in Isetan The Japan Store at Lot 10 Kuala Lumpur. That’s the excited part. The shocking part? It probably costs almost as much as your 1-month salary.
Drum rolls please. It costs a whopping RM2,000 or US$ 500 dollar for you to purchase 1 unit of Japan Square Watermelon. Even the round watermelon (named the Yellow Watermelon) beside it costs RM500! Unless you have too much cash to spare, this is luxury most people won’t be able to afford.
It is understood that this is the first time that the Japan Square Watermelon is being sold at Isetan The Japan Store’s supermarket. In addition, the outlet also sells premium Japanese peaches (including the white ones), Crown Melon, grapes and more. Crown Melons – priced at RM300 each – are apparently the top seller here.
