7-Eleven Malaysia is clearing the air on the public’s concern surrounding the Nutrimalt beverage currently sold at their outlets. For context, the controversy sparked after a video posted by a Muslim preacher named Ustaz Syah went viral on TikTok.
The TikToker had urged the public to not to buy Nutrimalt drinks at the convenience store. Ustaz Syah also questioned the product’s halal status in his video. Additionally, he pointed out that the product is produced by Carlsberg brewery.

The matter also caught the attention of JAKIM. In response, the Islamic Affairs department has since confirmed that the product is not eligible to apply for the Malaysian Halal Confirmation Certificate (SPHM). Soon after the issue went viral, the management of 7-Eleven also came up with an official statement regarding the matter.
“We address all concerns raised by our customers with diligence and the utmost priority. Upon receiving word of this concern, we took immediate action and reached out to the manufacturer of Nutrimalt to shed light on the matter. The manufacturer gave us an official response of reconfirmation that the product is non-alcoholic,” they clarified.
“We would also like to once again emphasise on our continued commitment in ensuring that your concerns are heard and addressed so that we can provide you with the high-quality service that you rightly deserve. At 7-Eleven, all of our products undergo strict approval processes that ensure the safety of consumption for all of our customers,” the convenience store chain added in their statement.
