5 Ways To Get Over Something, Or Someone, Fast

If you clicked on this article, you are either extremely curious or are going through some intense stuff right now. Going through something is like wading your way through a swamp; the more you march forward, the more it feels like it’s slowly eating you whole. And it is at this time that you tend to be reckless with your decisions, feeling like everything you have built that has defined you is being burned away, leading to more reckless decisions and self-loathing to fuel your downward spiral.

If you are feeling this way, know that you are not alone and that it’s ok to feel these things. Hence, here is a list of how to get over something in a healthy manner, fast.

Have A Strong Support System

Humans are social animals, and we need to communicate with other people in order to be healthy, believe it or not. This is exactly why having a trustworthy and healthy support system is an absolute must, as they are able to help us up when we need their consoling presence. Keep this circle wide and diverse; involve your closest friends and family members as a fallback system; and focus on people who make you feel safe in their presence – even better if it’s with a professional.

Of course, having this system in place serves another purpose than simply ranting at the people involved in it. Dealing with extreme stress can cause us to be impulsive and hasty in searching for an escape, but these are pitfalls as they may only focus on short-term bursts of happiness instead of actual healing, which is why it’s important to consult with your support system and ask for advice on things you are planning on doing, as their different perspective provides much-needed insight in a time when you can’t think straight.

Small Habits, Big Feels: 5 Tiny Rituals To Romanticise Your Day & Feel UwU!

Cry About It

It may seem counterintuitive or demeaning, but we really do mean it, especially for the men. There’s nothing wrong with letting yourself break apart in tears; in fact, it’s highly encouraged when you can no longer contain yourself. Crying is a very healthy way of dealing with a lot of emotions, as it allows the person to just let all that negativity out. You’ll feel bad afterwards, but you will have remarkable improvements in mood and mental clarity.

Get Physical

During these intense moments, you just want to do things you can’t explain without getting arrested. Don’t believe us? Ari Aster, the director of Midsommar, created the controversial film as a form of catharsis to cope with a very bad breakup – it is a film we do not recommend you watch while going through something. But we digress.

Another alternative to getting over things is to do something physically intensive, preferably hitting the gym or doing some contact sports. Not only does it ease the tension and clear up your head, but you can actually get fit, allowing yourself to be both healthy in body and mind.

Do Something Different
The difficulty of being stuck in a downward spiral can be due to a lack of variety in your daily activities. One of the pitfalls of going through things would be the fact that it’s so easy to isolate yourself and stay in there for god knows how long. The contributing factors to this lack of growth would be the lack of variety in your daily activities. A way to get over things is to try something new; visit a new store, try that newly opened restaurant, explore a place you’ve never been to before. These don’t have to be major things or daily occurrences, though. They can be simple and small, as long as you are having fun then you have nothing to regret.

Go Easy On Yourself

Even though it’s something obvious, it’s still something that people need to be reminded of in trying times. No one wants to be in that position and you shouldn’t blame yourself for things you could not have foreseen. Life is difficult as it is and, if you’re reading this, this is a sign that you shouldn’t place too much pressure on yourself. This is especially true in break ups or loss, but, more often than not, people hate the fact that they are having fun in trying times because they feel like they are forgetting what they lost when that is further from the truth. People deserve happiness, especially during times when they believe they are most undeserving of it.
