Planning to go on a short and sweet staycation for the coming Merdeka holiday or the Malaysia Day long weekend with your loved ones? Then look no further because we’ve got you covered. After going through some major revamping, Resorts World Awana – one of the hospitality giants offered by Resorts World Genting – has recently reopened its doors!

Located just 35 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur city centre, Resorts World Awana is the perfect destination for those who have been longing for some peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We at Hype Malaysia recently had the pleasure to go on a 2D1N staycation at Resorts World Awana. Needless to say, with a plethora of exciting activities being put forth, your experience at this resort will be the best yet.

For starters, let’s begin with the rooms and the facilities provided by the resort, shall we?

1. Superior Deluxe Room

The resort is currently offering a Superior Deluxe Room with an approximate space of 360 sq ft, which is perfectly spacious enough for two people. The room has two twin-sized beds, a dining table, a 50-inch UHDTV, a mini fridge, a hair-dryer, a tea and coffee bar, while the bathroom is complete with amenities such as towels of various sizes, soaps, and shampoos. The housekeeping team are also ready at your service in case you need additional amenities.

The room also has a sliding door, where you can step outside onto the balcony and enjoy the breathtaking view and also experience the chilly weather of Genting Highlands from your doorstep. If you’re lucky, you can also get a view of the Genting Premium Outlets (GPO) mall from afar, which is located approximately two minutes away from the resort.

2. Facilities

With that being said, as cozy as the hotel room is, there’s actually plenty of stuff you can actually do outside. Resorts World Awana provides some eye-catching facilities for their guests. This include:

The swimming pool

What better way to kick start your holiday than taking a relaxing dip at Resorts World Awana’s outdoor pool? If the cool temperature chills you to the bone, you don’t have to worry because the pool will be heated on the weekends. Do take note that the swimming pool is reserved for in-house guests only.

  • Location: Lobby floor
  • Operating hours: 8am to 8pm daily

The gym

The resort’s modern and hip gym is now outfitted with state-of-art fitness equipment. Gym-goers can also work out while enjoying the spectacular sight of the 130-million-year-old rainforest.

  • Location: Lobby floor
  • Operating hours: 7am to 10pm daily

3. Awana Trekking Trail

When you’re fully surrounded by the lush greeneries that Mother Nature has to offer, it’s only natural that trekking would be amongst the interesting outdoor activities offered by the resort! Here at Resorts World Awana, nature lovers are welcomed to embark on a refreshing trekking adventure in the rainforest. The trails are led by the resort’s Park Rangers. Hikers will get to learn more on the rich biodiversity in Genting Highlands.

The details are as follows:

  • Distance: 2.2km (2 hours)
  • Entrance fee: RM10 per person (free entry for children under seven years old)
  • Prams and wheelchairs are also accessible for family with kids, senior citizens as well as for the disabled.

4. Ayu Awana

After all the trekking and the hiking, now comes our favourite part of the trip – FOOD! One of the signature restaurants located at Resorts World Awana is the AYU Awana, a hippie beach vibe restaurant situated by the poolside. AYU Awana features a splendid blend of art, music, nature, and wellness, while serving a variety of the most delectable meals for all you foodies to choose from.

Among these include special smokehouse and grill menu, regional dishes, healthy delights, as well as an extensive list of cocktail drinks for both sun-kissed afternoons and moonlit dinners. The details:

  • Location: Lobby floor
  • Operating hours: 7am to 11pm (Sunday to Thursday), 7am to 12am (Friday and Saturday)
  • Must try menu: BBQ Chicken Thigh with Lemon Butter Rice & Peri-Peri Sauce, Smashed Beef Burger, The Clucker (breakfast), The Malibu (breakfast), Ayu Green and Morning Breeze Mocktails
  • More info at AYU Awana’s Instagram

Wednesday Jazz & Pizza Night

Wednesday is a special day for visitors at the Resorts World Awana in Genting! Your midweek will be enlightened with scrumptious fusion pizzas (freshly baked upon order), complete with some snazzy tunes performed by the local band Le’ Lagoon at the poolside lounge. For their signature pizza menu, we recommend you to try the Perak Beef Rendang Tok Pizza, the Lamb Tika Masala Pizza and also the Tonkatsu Tuna Pizza.

5. The Cheeky Grind

Inspired by the fun-loving resident gibbons of Genting Highlands’ rainforests (as seen in its official logo), hotel guests can also indulge in the small-batch, artisanal blended coffee and pastries at the Cheeky Grind. The outlet’s craft coffees are indeed a must try for all the coffee aficionados out there.

  • Location: Lobby floor
  • Operating hours: 7am to 9pm daily
  • Must try menu: Iced coffee and coconut, Iced Latte, Victoria Sandwich Cake, Chocolate Banana Cake

6. Awana Garden

A hot pot meal in the cool mountain air is one of the most pleasurable dining experiences one could ever have. At Awana Garden, you will be warmed by the inviting whiffs of steam rising from gently bubbling hotpots. Not only that, you will also be treated with the magnificent scenery of Genting Highlands as you feast on the buffet dish offered at the restaurant. Truly a match made in heaven!

Operating hours:

  • Lunch – 12pm to 3pm
  • Dinner – 6pm to 9:30pm
