5 New Music Videos That’ll Be Your Soundtrack To Reflection This Week

by Dean Zaini
November 7, 2024

This week has been one of those where my mind just can’t seem to settle—gloomy thoughts and overthinking have taken over. If you’re in the same boat, this list is for you.

I’ve rounded up some of the latest music videos that hit all the right emotional notes. From tracks that capture the weight of reflection to visuals that mirror the exhaustion of life’s endless cycles, these new releases are perfect for those moments when your mind needs a soundtrack.

Hindia – “Satu Hari Lagi”

YouTube video

In the music video for Hindia’s “Satu Hari Lagi,” from his latest album “Lagipula Hidup Akan Berakhir”, the protagonist’s life is a cycle of exhaustion and isolation. Overwhelmed by financial troubles and the pressures of work, he becomes detached from his family, spending nights working at the dining table while his loved ones grow distant. The video visually represents the passage of time, with family moments captured in a photo frame while the protagonist remains stuck in his routine, never fully present in the lives of those around him. His children grow up, and his wife grows frustrated, but he remains oblivious, consumed by his work.

As time moves forward, the family leaves, and the protagonist wakes up in an abandoned house, now aged and disoriented. Despite this, he resumes his work as if nothing ever happened, reflecting the song’s themes of being trapped in an endless cycle of pressure and unfulfilled longing. The dark, realistic aesthetic of the video amplifies the feeling of emotional exhaustion, leaving the viewer with a sense of unresolved struggle, mirroring the song’s plea for peace and a break from the weight of expectations.

FUGŌ's Theme Song For "Ejen Ali The Movie 2" - “Some Other Day” - Is An Emotionally-Resonant Anthem

FUGŌ – “Pentas Sandiwara”

YouTube video

FUGO’s latest music video for their reflective track off the album “99″ captures the bittersweet essence of time. With a cinematic style that complements the melancholic tone of the song, the video brings the lyrics’ themes of the past, present, and future to life. One poignant scene features a young man playing the piano, with an older man and a child entering the frame—symbolising the interconnectedness of past, present, and future. The narrative unfolds like a delicate, emotional story, grounding the idea that we are all performers on the stage of our own lives. The video beautifully symbolises the connection between generations, urging viewers to cherish the fleeting moments that define our existence.

The song itself carries a tender message about appreciating the present and cherishing loved ones. Lyrics like “call your mother,” “hug your lover,” and “tell your daughter you love her” remind us to hold on to meaningful relationships. The song also speaks to the uncertainty of life with lines such as “Teruskanlah menikmati sisa hidup mu” and “Hari hari yang lalu tak akan lagi menghantui dirimu,” encouraging listeners to embrace the now and let go of regrets. It’s a heartfelt invitation to appreciate the simple joys of life, even as the future remains unknown.

Chezile – “Beanie”

YouTube video

The music video for “Beanie” by Chezile perfectly complements the melancholic tone of the track, visually capturing the band’s reflective performance in a vast outdoor setting. Despite the vastness of the surroundings, the band’s somber mood conveys a sense of isolation and longing, mirroring the emotional depth of the song.

Butterfingers, Amir Jahari, The Lantis & FUGŌ To Unite Music Fans At LOKALOKO 2026

The minimalist setting enhances the feeling of emptiness, reflecting the lyrics about the pain of holding onto a relationship that seems to be slipping away. The protagonist’s vulnerability is emphasised, as they wonder why their partner still lingers in their mind, even as they sense emotional withdrawal. The song speaks to the sadness and helplessness of watching someone pull away, despite one’s own desire to hold on — a sentiment that is reflected in the video’s somber mood.

for Revenge – “Semula”

YouTube video

Revenge recently released the music video for their emotional single “Semula,” which was first available on streaming platforms in early October. The video takes viewers through a deeply introspective journey, filled with memories and the weight of regret. The realistic aesthetic captures the protagonist returning to a place filled with reminders of his past relationship. As he revisits these significant spots, he reflects on whether there was any possibility that he and his ex could have never met. However, no matter how much he wishes it, the video shows that their paths would have crossed eventually, even if they had never known each other. The inevitability of their connection adds to the bittersweet nature of his reflections.

The time-rewind concept is cleverly visualised as the protagonist mixes the song, almost as if he’s trying to rewrite the past. The video’s tone aligns perfectly with the melancholic mood of the song, evoking feelings of regret, hurt, and anxiety, as the protagonist overthinks his choices. The verse from Surah Ash-Shu’ara (26:102) appears at the end, a powerful reminder that, despite wishing for a second chance, the past cannot be undone, adding a layer of reflective depth to the video.

FUGŌ's Theme Song For "Ejen Ali The Movie 2" - “Some Other Day” - Is An Emotionally-Resonant Anthem

Alessia Cara – “(Isn’t It) Obvious”

YouTube video

The music video for this track takes a creative and abstract approach, set in an art exhibition where the protagonist herself becomes a work of art. This surreal, art-installation-themed video doesn’t follow a linear storyline but uses its setting to represent emotional distance and the search for meaning in love. The protagonist, surrounded by abstract art, represents the complexity of relationships and the need for reassurance despite doubts. At one point, the protagonist engages in a game of chess with an older man, symbolising the strategic moves and challenges in a relationship while also creating her own abstract art—suggesting the idea of actively shaping and redefining love.

The video’s abstract aesthetic, with large and small installations, mirrors the song’s message about the uncertainties in a relationship, while the protagonist’s presence as an artwork suggests that, like the art around her, love is often more obvious than it seems but requires interpretation. The art installation setting, with its detached atmosphere, conveys the longing and emotional distance expressed in the lyrics, yet the protagonist’s role as both the artwork and the artist reflects the commitment and reassurance offered in the song. The video leaves viewers contemplating the connection between art, interpretation, and the strength of love, just as the song emphasises the clarity of affection amidst uncertainty.
