5 Best Beaches For Swimming, Surfing, Snorkeling & Sightseeing In The Philippines!

One of Asia’s best beach holiday destinations is the Philippines – that’s practically a fact. But with over 7,600 islands in the archipelago, where do you head to for a perfect seaside getaway?

Well, this listicle will narrow the options down for you. From the famed beaches of world-famous holiday hotspots like Cebu and Boracay, to the white sands and crystal-clear waters of lesser-known Siargao and Bohol – here are five of the best beach destinations in the Philippines just awaiting your arrival.

Siargao

Known for the Cloud 9 break, Siargao Island is a luscious beach that has become the ideal destination for surfers around the world. Though it typically attracts professional surfers, beginners are also welcome to join thanks to the area’s laid-back vibe. And if surfing isn’t your thing, you can visit the town of General Luna, a lovely area that is packed with trendy cafes, amazing social hubs, and budget-friendly hotels.

If you wish to explore, you are welcome to rent out motorbikes that have been modified to carry your surfboards. Alternatively, if you want to go the distance, you are welcome to take boat tours to islets and visit the rocky tidal pools of Sugba Lagoon. If this seems to tickle your fancy, then feel free to book online or in person.

Bohol

Bohol is another obvious choice, with its abundant lodging options and lots of fun activities to plug into your itinerary. Panglao Island’s charming Alona Beach is lined with family-friendly resorts; while nearby Dumaluan Beach has more gorgeous white sand. Visitors can enjoy stunning views, dolphin spotting, and snorkelling on the islands of Pamilacan and Balicasag, where small boats wait to take them offshore.

Three kilometres of stunning sand stretches across the eastern edge of Bohol, offering a more sedate retreat for undisturbed relaxation. However, if alone time with your beloved is something you need, then try out the Amun Ini Beach Resort & Spa, which is a private haven for couples.

Cebu

Cebu is perhaps one of the most welcoming beach destinations in the country. This island province, located at the very centre of the Philippine archipelago, is home to a multitude of pristine beaches, accommodation options and activities, as well as a vast array of restaurants. Cebu is easily accessible via land and sea – another reason why it’s the go-to tourist destination as of late.

The white sand beaches of Bantayan Island, Malapascua Island, and Mactan Island also entice beachgoers, and snorkelers and divers are drawn to the vibrant coral reefs teeming with sea turtles and other marine life. For a unique experience, visit Moalboal or Pescador Island, where year-round, breathtaking sardine runs can be observed near the surface.

Boracay

Naturally, we can’t discuss Philippine beaches without discussing the most popular one of all – Boracay. Popular for being the OG white beach, this region has seen massive development over the years. Highly-accessible and packed with air-conditioned hotel rooms, popular fast food joints and bars, and even well-developed recreational areas for you to explore, Boracay is packed with modern-day amenities and luxuries alongside peerless seas.

It’s also renowned for the wide range of beach activities on offer – from dive trips to kayaking, from ATVs to massages. A great destination for families, couples, friend groups and single adventurers.

Palawan

If you’re looking for a more pristine getaway without the distractions of modern life, then Palawan should be on your to-do list. From white sand beaches to dazzling open coves bordered by massive limestone cliffs – this largely uninhabited archipelago is the perfect place to satisfy your need for adventure.

There are beaches as far as the eye can see, such as the Nacpan beach – a 4km crescent-shaped strip of golden sands surrounded by lapis lazuli waters. If you want to get your steps in, try walking along the San Vicente coast, the longest white sand beach in the country, that stretches for 14km. These are only a few of Palawan’s islands you can visit – you can expand your horizons even further by joining guided boat tours where you can visit various other islands, as well as getting the chance to snorkel and swim alongside a bale of sea turtles.
