The 6 Types Of People On A Raya Road Trip – Which One Are You?

Raya season is upon us, bringing with it the annual test of patience known as the Great Raya Road Trip.

This journey isn’t just about reaching your hometown – it’s an hours-long odyssey filled with drama, passive-aggressive comments, and questionable snack choices shared with the same people who drive you crazy every year.

The Driver – Road Captain, Traffic Hater

The undisputed leader of the journey, The Driver believes they’re starring in Fast & Furious: Raya Drift – but in reality, they’re crawling at 20km/h on the highway.

They maintain a sacred bond with Waze, trusting it blindly even when it leads them into a longer jam. Their biggest enemy? Slow drivers in the right lane. Their biggest nightmare? A sleepy co-pilot who fails to navigate properly.

The Passenger Princess – CEO Of Doing Nothing

Living in absolute luxury, The Passenger Princess perfects their seat position while everyone else struggles. Their only responsibility? Holding the navigation phone – which they forget to check until after the exit is missed. They claim the trip is so exhausting despite never touching the steering wheel. Expect them to wake up only when food is involved.

The Overpacker – Car Space Hijacker

The Overpacker treats a short trip like an overseas move, stuffing the car with enough luggage to survive an apocalypse. There’s no such thing as “packing light” – if there’s space, they’ll fill it. Everyone suffers as bags take up legroom, and at least one person will have to sit with a periuk or a mystery tupperware on their lap.

AirAsia's "All Seats, All Flights" Sale Is Back, Offering 25%* Discounted Fares!

The Backseat DJ – Aux Cord Dictator

Armed with a playlist and a superiority complex, The Backseat DJ believes their music taste is the best in the car. They’ll play one universally loved song before forcing everyone to endure a niche 10-minute indie track. Any attempt to change the song will be met with “just wait, this part is good!” – a phrase that never delivers.

The Snack Dealer – Kerepek & Kuih Supplier

The MVP of the trip, The Snack Dealer ensures nobody goes hungry. They come prepared with chips, festive cookies, and mysterious treats from some makcik. But beware – taking the last piece without permission is a crime punishable by side-eye and a dramatic “I was saving that!” (Oh, and if you’re traveling during the day, don’t forget to fast!)

The Instagrammer – R&R Content Creator

No rest stop is safe from The Instagrammer, who turns the journey into a full-fledged content shoot. Every R&R becomes an OOTD runway, and food must be photographed before eaten. The worst part? Everyone is forced into “candid” shots at every stop, whether they like it or not.

So, which one are you? If you don’t know… chances are, you’re the one everyone else is silently tolerating. Buckle up, embrace the chaos, and please don’t trust Waze shortcuts. Selamat Hari Raya, and drive safe!
