Earlier this month, local entrepreneur Beautrice Mok faced backlash for distributing mercury-laced face cream from Molly Care to her customers. Despite the criticism over the delayed response and “unauthentic” apology, the beauty brand owner continues to make amends.
Recently, Beautrice and her husband Traviss Loong shared another video on Instagram to update customers on the Molly Care issues. In the video, the couple and business partners claimed that they have since refunded 317 affected customers.

They also said they would continue to issue the remaining refunds in the future, asking customers to remain patient. The pair also reiterated that they aren’t dodging responsibility and will continue helping the affected customers.
In addition, Beautrice and Traviss said they filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer of Molly Care for selling the harmful face cream and faking the safety test results. The two said they’re now working with their lawyers and are studying how to recover the rights of their customers. Unfortunately, the couple never elaborated on the lawsuit but will continue to report the latest update on the case.
They also addressed concerns about other products under their company. Traviss said they’ve confirmed that the products from skincare manufacturer Biologique Recherche meet the standards of the Ministry of Health of Malaysia and are safe to use. It’s understood that netizens began voicing concern over the other products distributed by Beautrice’s company after the Molly Care face cream scare.

Netizens have since reacted to the latest video, still showing disappointment over the couple’s apology. Some said the couple dressed in plain, shabby outfits to gain sympathy and play the victim. A few customers also claim they haven’t received their refund, urging the couple to be more efficient. However, some said Beautrice and Traviss should compensate the Molly Care victims instead of just issuing refunds.
Understandably, customers have the right to be angry at the situation. However, it’s good that Beautrice and Travis aren’t dodging their responsibilities. We wish them the best in the lawsuit and hope everything goes well.
