Celebrities are expected to uphold a respectable image and avoid getting into inappropriate incidents. Unfortunately, there have been many stories of stars getting into issues while drunk, like most recently, Chinese singer Lu Han (鹿晗) and Japanese actor Yoshizawa Ryo (吉沢 亮).
Lu Han’s case began earlier this week when he went on a live broadcast while intoxicated. During the broadcast, the former EXO member behaved erratically, cursing at the viewers and showing off his middle finger to the camera. Lu Han’s inappropriate behaviour sparked backlash and resulted in the singer’s social media accounts getting blocked.

Lu Han later issued an apology through his Weibo account, expressing regret for setting a poor example on the live broadcast. The singer also said he will hold himself to stricter standards of conduct and will actively work to eliminate the negative social impact caused by his inappropriate actions.
Meanwhile, Japanese actor Yoshizawa Ryo recently got questioned by police for trespassing a neighbour’s home while drunk. According to reports, an individual in Tokyo called the police on 30th December 2024 (Monday) to report that a neighbour had broken into their apartment without permission. Yoshizawa, who lives next door to the victim, admitted to authorities that he drunkenly entered the apartment to use the bathroom.
Yoshizawa had been drinking with friends the night before the incident and accidentally entered the apartment next door instead of his own. The actor could enter the apartment as the door was not locked during the incident. He was only in the apartment unit for five minutes to use the bathroom. The actor’s agency, Amuse Inc., has also issued a statement on the matter, apologising to the public for all the inconvenience caused.

Amuse also said the actor had already apologised to the neighbour for the incident and has moved out of the apartment building. Investigations are ongoing, but his agency asked the media to refrain from further speculation or interviewing the neighbours as it may cause inconvenience.
It’s good that both celebrities acknowledged their wrongdoings and have apologised to the relevant parties. However, we hope public figures will hold themselves to stricter standards of conduct to avoid such incidents from happening again.
