Earlier this year, fans debated which female singer deserved to receive the Biduanita Negara (roughly translated as National Vocalist) title from the Malaysian government. The top 2 names that were brought up include Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza and Dato’ Sheila Majid.
After months of careful consideration, the Malaysian government has made its decision. Malaysia’s no. 1 singer has now been crowned Biduanita Negara, making her the third female artist to receive this prestigious title.

Congratulations to Siti Nurhaliza! According to reports, the title was presented to the performer by the Deputy Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture’s (MOTAC) 2024 National Arts Awards, which took place last night (Wednesday, 13th November). Along with the honorary title, the superstar also received RM30,000 in cash and a trophy.
Taking to Instagram, the 45-year-old legend expressed her gratitude after being crowned as Biduanita Negara. “Thank you so much to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for this amazing award. To me, this title is not only a recognition of my achievements throughout my career but also as a symbol of appreciation towards all artists who have worked tirelessly to showcase the beauty of our country’s art and culture,” she said.
The singer added, “This honour and trust are a personal responsibility for me to continue championing the arts and culture, especially in the field of music, so that Malaysia continues to shine and flourish in the years to come.” Fans and celebrity friends all congratulate the icon for her latest achievement.
