Many celebrities have exposed the dark side of fame, revealing how often they received offensive advances from people trying to have their way with them. Hong Kong actress Ceci Mak (麦诗晴) is one of those celebrities, recently receiving a shady invitation from an unknown man.
The former Miss Hong Kong contestant recently took to social media to expose a man offering her a large amount of money for a “dinner date”. However, the term “dinner date” in this context is often associated with unethical practices akin to escort services. Many female celebrities have received many offers for “dinners”, where they’ll “service” powerful men in exchange for money or more job opportunities.
According to the image Ceci shared, the man claiming to be an entertainment industry representative started the conversation by asking if he could reach out to the actress for a job. When the 27-year-old questioned the type of work offered, the man candidly proposed, “HK$500,000 for a dinner date”. Ceci didn’t appear to reply to the man directly but instead exposed the conversation on her Threads account.
In her caption, Ceci wrote, “Such activities are not part of an actress’ job description. Dialling 210, followed by five zeros, might address your query.” The phone number described (218 00000) is the hotline number for KFC Hong Kong, showing her humorous side in this situation. Many netizens have reacted to the post, generally asking Ceci to block the user to avoid getting any more shady offers.
As aforementioned, Ceci is not alone in this. Actress and beauty queen Sisley Choi (蔡思贝) once revealed on a show that someone offered her HK$2 million (approximately RM1.1 million) to attend a “dinner”. Meanwhile, Malaysian-born star Jacquelin Ch’ng (庄思敏) said someone had previously offered her a whopping HK$12 million (approximately RM6.8 million).
