Malaysian Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting the upcoming “Thunderbolts” film ever since actress Florence Pugh confirmed that filming took place in Kuala Lumpur. The anticipation has only increased since Marvel Entertainment released the first teaser trailer a few months ago, which included scenes shot in KL. Influencer Syaza Atheerah even spilt some behind-the-scenes secrets about what it was like to work on the project.

Although many are thrilled to see the film, which is slated for a May 2025 release, local fans have shared a few things they hope Marvel Studios will deliver for the upcoming addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Here’s what they had to say:

Over the weekend, Marvel released a one-minute clip of a car chase scene from the “Thunderbolts” film on YouTube, which then transitioned into the latest trailer for the upcoming project. The promo featured new and extended scenes filmed in KL, including the skydiving stunt at Merdeka 118 performed by Florence Pugh and her stunt team, as well as the explosion scene shot at Lebuh Ampang.

Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and TGV Cinemas shared the trailer and screenshots of those iconic scenes on their social media pages, sparking excitement among fans. Given Marvel’s history of omitting key scenes in the trailer from the final cuts, fans are hopeful that the studio will include every shot filmed in Malaysia or at the very least specify the name of the country or location the characters were seen at.

Another reason fans are making this request is due to rumours suggesting that the scenes may not actually be set in Malaysia but in the fictional region of Madripoor. Additionally, many are hoping for a grand red-carpet premiere event in KL, with the film’s stars in attendance, as shown in the screenshots below.

Since the KL scenes were met with overwhelmingly positive reactions from Malaysian fans and the “Black Widow” star confirmed her scenes during an interview, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that those will be included in the final cut. Perhaps, we might even see more scenes shot in Malaysia. Are you excited to see “Thunderbolts” on the big screens next year?
