Whenever attending a party that involves festive food, we tend to admire the decoration of the food and desserts at the event. Be it an elegant royal cake, or an unexpected ‘money cake’, confections always steal the spotlight during these parties. But what if the cake itself turned out to be a disaster?
Similar to a previous incident involving a disastrous cake, a post went viral recently about a cake order and a customer who had high expectations. Here’s what happened:

Over the weekend, Facebook user Nurul Syuhada Jamro posted two photos comparing the expectations and reality of her recent cake order. In the post, which has received over 2.4k shares, she explained that she had ordered a custom-made Maybank-themed cake from a home-based baker in Shah Alam, costing her RM300 due to the use of expensive ingredients, including premium cheese.
The woman added that instead of decorating it with balloons as shown in the reference image, the baker used tiny plastic balloons on the cake. The customer expressed her frustration saying, “Despite it tasting good, the cake looked horrendous. Wouldn’t it be better if the appearance of the cake aligns well with the taste?”
Malaysian netizens took to the comment section to joke about the situation, while some expressed their sympathy to the unfortunate Maybank staff. Many users joked that the baker must’ve only finished the cake the night before the deadline, while another commented that it would be quite embarrassing to bring such a cake for an event. Another user suggested that even a kid’s birthday cake looks better than the one in the viral post.

Some also expressed their dissatisfaction, commenting that the baker shouldn’t have agreed with the order if they knew such a design was hard to create. They added that this situation seemed as if the baker only wanted the money, instead of putting a bit more effort into finishing the cake.
What would you have done in this situation?
