From Theme Parks To Shopping Districts: Our Top 5 Tourist Spots To Visit In Taiwan

by Afiq Amin
November 10, 2024

Recently, we shared some of our favourite Muslim-friendly establishments for you to dine in during your next trip to Taiwan. There was so much to choose from but we picked the ones that would be worth your time, money and tastebuds. Apart from the mouth-watering meals and snacks, we’d also like to recommend some of our favourite tourist spots for you to visit.

If you’re planning a holiday to Taiwan but have no idea where to go or what to do, perhaps this listicle will help you decide if these are the right destinations for you. So start taking notes and plan your itinerary, as you’ll definitely want to visit these fascinating attractions.

1. Songboling Visitor Centre

Renowned for its unique tea culture experience, where visitors can immerse themselves in the rich tea traditions of Nantou through all six senses (especially the sense of meaning) via three main activities: tea frying, a steaming tea facial mask experience, and tea tasting.

Opening hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm

Address: No. 181號, Section 2, Mingsong Rd, Mingjian Township, Nantou County, Taiwan

2. Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village

This was one of our favourite places to visit during our trip to Taiwan. Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village features four distinct themed areas: the Spanish Coast, Aboriginal Tribes & Tribal Scenic Area, and the European Garden. Each zone offers unique characteristics, ranging from Indigenous to Spanish to European palace styles. The village’s highlight is the representation of Taiwan’s ten Indigenous tribes, showcasing their culture through immersive experiences. Simply put, it’s a theme park!

Opening hours: 9:30am – 5pm (Weekdays), 9:30am – 5:30pm (Weekends)

Address: 555, Taiwan, Nantou County, Yuchi Township, 金天巷45號

3. YangMingShan National Park

Yangmingshan National Park is home to a variety of flowers, including plum, cherry, peach, apricot, azalea, and camellia, drawing large crowds each year for flower viewing. Unfortunately due to the weather, we couldn’t explore the park but we did manage to check out the Yangming Shuwu, originally known as Zhongxing Guest House. Yangming Shuwu was constructed between 1969 and 1970 and was the former residence of the late President Chiang Kai-shek.

Opening hours: 9am – 4:30pm (Daily)

Address: No.1-20, Zhuzihu Rd., Beitou Dist., Taipei City Taiwan

4. Taipei 101

If you love exploring the tallest buildings in the world, like the KL Tower or Merdeka 118, then you might want to visit this place. Taipei 101 offers breathtaking panoramic views of Taipei from one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers. Located on the 89th floor, the observatory provides a 360-degree view of the city, making it a must-visit attraction.

Opening hours: 10am – 9pm (Daily)

Address: 89F, No. 7, Sec. 5, Xinyi Rd., Xinyi Dist., Taipei City 110, Taiwan

5. Ximending Shopping District

If you love Bukit Bintang, we personally recommend checking this place out on your last day or the final two days before heading home, as you’ll certainly be spending a lot of time (and money) here. Ximending Shopping District blends history with modern culture, attracting both nostalgic and trendy visitors. Shoppers can indulge in a shopping spree, with a wide variety of merchandise available at affordable prices, making it a shopping paradise for those who love to treat themselves.

Address: No.1, City Hall Rd., Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan
