Jay Chou’s (周杰伦) recent concert in Kuala Lumpur brought about many interesting stories – from a lady giving birth at the concert to local celebrity Phei Yong (培永) getting caught up in a dating rumour. While many fans made happy memories with their idol on the night, some also made memories they’d like to forget.
Local influencers Elecher Lee (一粒车) and Meghan Cheah were some of the fans who got front-row tickets to the concert at Bukit Jalil National Stadium. The two also shared videos of them having a great time at the show. However, behind the envy-inducing video, the two public figures revealed the downside of the concert – getting pushed around by some overzealous foreign fans.

According to Meghan, the Chinese fans behind them almost knocked the two influencers over when Jay Chou approached the front row to interact with the crowd. It seemed the fans got too eager to shake hands with the singer, as Meghan even said she had to cut the ropes that held the chairs together to allow the fans to move without pushing the others. The same fans also got to request a song from the Taiwanese popstar, which meant more crowding around Elecher and Meghan.
Elecher also said she was taken aback by the overexcited fans suddenly rushing to the front. She said the impact of the fans’ pushing was too strong, and she ended up getting thrashed around. However, Elecher said she’ll excuse the pushing because the fans indirectly allowed her to appear on the stage LED screens during the song request session.

It’s normal to feel that adrenaline rush at a concert, but let’s be mindful of those around us. Hopefully, fans will be more careful at crowded events, even when trying to get the attention of their idols.
