Two is always better than one, and these shoe brands definitely agree.
From stylish kicks that are worthy of the runway, to rugged beasts that can take on any terrain – here are two new shoe drops you gotta cop!
A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Max 95 “W.Y.W.S.”
Among all the purveyors of epic sports shoes, Nike easily ranks among the top as the most recognisable and popular brands out there, and rightfully so. However, one thing the American-based sneaker brand can’t touch is impeccable fashion and style. Which is why the largest supplier of sporting shoes is collaborating with an Atlanta-based French-inspired fashion brand, A Ma Maniére.
Making its debut during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, the two showcased a reinterpreted version of the Nike Air Max 95 by having it go down the catwalk in a sleek “Burgundy Ash” colour palette. Now, after months of silence, the A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Max 95 “W.Y.W.S.” is about to hit store shelves in its aforementioned Burgundy Ash palette, as well as a new Dark Violet Ore.
The layered upper of the shoe, particularly the Dark Violet Ore, features various muted pink and purple hues adorning each overlay. Upon closer inspection, you can see a milky-white toe cap with the “A Ma Maniére” script engraved, a logo that you will see again on the shoe’s tongue. Moving to the rear of the shoe, you will find the “A” emblem of the brand resting beneath a Nike Air callout on the silver heel.
The A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Max 95 “W.Y.W.S.” is expected to hit the Nike webstore by year end and will retail for US$190 (RM811).
VEJA x P.Andrade Fitz Roy
For the first time in its entire history, the French footwear brand VEJA has partnered up with the Brazilian label P. Andrade to present their first footwear collaboration.
The offering is modelled after VEJA’s Fitz Roy hiking shoe and has a multicoloured look that is reminiscent of rock formations. This collage-style design covers the entire upper of the shoe, with earthy tones inspired by the Amazon rainforest and a hint of muted blue tones complementing each other.
The designers of P. Andrade, Pedro Andrade and Paula Kim, claim that their interest in sealing systems served as the basis for the shoe’s design. “We tested the shoe for the first time during an Amazon expedition and were impressed by its efficiency and beauty,” they said.
The joint shoe, which is in line with the eco-friendly beliefs and methods of both brands, has a midsole made of 52% sugarcane and 3% Amazonian rubber. In the meantime, the outsole’s 31% Amazonian rubber material composition provides protection from rough terrain.
The VEJA x P.Andrade Fitz Roy is available now at the P. Andrade and VEJA webstores for BRL1,100 (~RM862).
