Videos of a bride and her family cancelling the wedding at the last minute have gone viral on social media. Many sympathised with the groom and urged him to consider legal action against the woman he was meant to marry.
However, there is more to the story. Taking to TikTok Live, the groom, Adam, explained in greater detail what led to the cancellation. Here’s what he said:

During the broadcast, Adam revealed that the bride had informed him and his family back in August that she would not go through with the marriage, prompting them to cancel reservations. “Unfortunately, everything has been booked and paid for by my side of the family. There was no way for a refund. We’ve even sent out the invitations, so we decided to proceed with a prayer ceremony instead with the guests rather than a wedding,” he explained.
The ex-groom also claimed there was another man involved in their relationship that led to their separation. “It just wasn’t meant to be. We spent around RM31,000 on the wedding, excluding the goodie bags, homestays for the family, and other necessities. As for a possible lawsuit, that’s between our families. I won’t be sharing anything about that,” he elaborated. It was reported that the 23-year-old and his ex-fiancée had been engaged since February of this year.

Adam then clarified that he had no intention of going viral with his story saying, “I posted those videos to simply explain the situation to loved ones who couldn’t attend that day. I never imagined that it would be sensationalised like that”. Although it wasn’t technically a last-minute revelation as mentioned in the announcement videos, netizens still offered words of comfort to the young man and his family during this challenging time. Others were wondering who was the other man who stole his bride.
Ironically, an anonymous woman recently confessed that she felt bad about cancelling a wedding. In her confession, the woman said that she was caught between two men who were vying for her love. “I was in a delusional mode,” she admitted. “He wasted RM20,000 on the wedding, and I feel guilty about it.” While we can’t confirm that this is the runaway bride who broke Adam’s heart, we can understand why many feel it’s connected.
