Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau (刘德华) hasn’t had the best of luck throughout his concert tour. After almost falling from a height twice, he recently had another accident where he almost fell into a hole on the stage.
According to reports, the incident happened during the King of Cantopop’s concert in Shenzhen. As shown in videos taken by fans, Andy was walking on the stage while performing when the door of the stage’s underground passage suddenly opened. Unfortunately, Andy was so engrossed in his performance of “It’s Not A Sin For Men To Cry (男人哭吧不是罪)” that he failed to notice the hole on the stage and made a misstep, almost falling into the hole.

The sudden scene had the audience in the concert venue screaming in shock, worrying for the singer. Thankfully, Andy managed to pull his leg out of the hole just in time to avoid falling in completely. However, he still sustained a minor injury in his hand. As shown in a video, the singer tried to play off the fall by forcing out laughter, perhaps not to worry his fans in the crowd. He also excused himself momentarily to get his hand treated before continuing the show.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the singer has given his fans a scare because, during his first show in Shanghai, Andy nearly fell from a four-metre-high platform. At another concert, he almost fell from a height after making a misstep while on a circular lift platform six metres above the stage. These incidents already had netizens worrying for the 63-year-old’s safety, urging him to be more careful when performing.

However, many argued that this recent incident in Shenzhen was the fault of the stage crew. Some questioned how the door could suddenly open while Andy was walking on stage, lamenting that the organiser and stage crew had ignored the gaping hole on the stage. Others also urged them to include more safety measures for the concert to avoid more potential harm to Andy.
We’re glad Andy wasn’t seriously injured, though it did seem like a painful fall. Hopefully, his Malaysia concert organiser will take more measures to ensure his safety when he performs here in October.
