Normally, netizens would advise or encourage Muslim female celebrities to dress more modestly and wear the hijab. However, strangely, it’s always those same people who would criticise these celebrities for not properly fully committing to covering up, saying that they might as well just take off their hijab.
Sadly, Malaysia’s pride Yuna has recently been getting a lot of comments of that nature. The singer posted a Reel on Instagram in response to those remarks that she should just take off her hijab. Here’s what she said:

In the Reel posted yesterday (Wednesday, 28th August), Yuna showcased the screenshots of comments she received from netizens who criticised her about her choice of style. In the video, the “Glory” songstress simply told those netizens to just “Deal with it”, however, in the post’s lengthy caption, she had much more to say about this ongoing issue.
“One thing that continues to surprise me, being a 37-year-old and having been doing this music thing for 15 years now, is how people from my community are STILL in my space leaving snarky, mean comments, telling me what to wear or to just ‘takeoff your hijab’ and judge me without spending a single minute in my shoes! There’s a word for that, it’s ‘TOXIC’. Is this what you aspire to be? Aren’t we taught to love one another? I hope you find yourself!” the songwriter wrote.
She then encouraged those toxic netizens to unfollow her on all social media accounts if they are not satisfied with her content or her life choices. “Sending love and light to all the haters cause they seriously need it, but please leave me alone. Also unfollow me if you miss ‘the old Yuna’, because you don’t know the old me either ha!! Thank you 🙏🏽” the award-winning lyricist concluded.

This is not the first time Yuna has been criticised for the way she’s dressed as she previously clapped back at an Instagram user who disapproved of her choice of hijab. Fans and celebrity friends, of course, showed support for the superstar for telling her haters off. Others reminded everyone that people’s religious journeys are different and Yuna is on her own path at her own pace. Regardless of what Yuna decides to wear or don’t wear, it’s still no one’s business but hers.
