Malaysian cuisine, celebrated for its rich and diverse flavours, has increasingly captured the attention of international celebrities. From the spicy allure of nasi lemak to the comforting layers of roti canai, the country’s food scene has been delighting global stars. Recently, well-known figures such as EXO’s D.O. (디오) and Lay (张艺兴), as well as Mandopop sensation Freya Lim (林凡), have expressed their love for Malaysian dishes.
Among the latest to indulge in Malaysia’s gastronomic offerings is Taiwanese singer-actress Ella Chen (陳嘉樺). Currently in the country for her World Of Two concert at Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands, the singer has taken the opportunity to explore Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant food scene. However, it’s worth noting that the star is no stranger to our local cuisine, given that she’s happily married to Malaysian businessman, Alvin Lai.

On 21st August, Ella shared her culinary journey with her Instagram followers. The photos, which captured her and her son Jin Bao enjoying a relaxing meal at an outdoor café in Kuala Lumpur, showcased her deep appreciation for local dishes. The singer delighted in sampling a variety of Malaysian delicacies, including nasi lemak, roti canai, satay, and curry laksa.
In her Instagram Story, she described the nasi lemak as “very spicy” but expressed her enthusiasm for the dish. Her enjoyment of roti canai was evident as she said “loving it,” further highlighting her fondness for Malaysian food. Her Instagram stories have resonated with fans who admire her openness to embracing local flavours.
