Malaysia continues to be the go-to destination for Chinese and Hong Kong stars, especially for good food. After Chinese idol Liu YuXin shared about her recent Kuala Lumpur and Melaka trip, five Hong Kong stars – Brian Tse (谢东闵), Owen Cheung (张振朗), Jazz Lam (林子善), Penny Chan (陈国峰) and King Kong Lee (金刚) – were recently spotted in the city by some lucky fans.
According to a fan, she happened to chance upon the group earlier this week while dining at a bak kut teh restaurant in KL, later revealed as the Dong Fang Xiang Bak Kut Teh restaurant at Jalan Imbi. In her post, the fan wrote, “I didn’t expect to meet Brian Tse, Owen Cheung, King Kong Lee, Penny Chan and Jazz Lam. How could I be so lucky to meet so many stars in one day?”.
The fan also shared photos of the group enjoying their bak kut teh and happily conversing. Another fan who also posted about meeting the group at the restaurant even got to pose with the stars for a photo. The lucky fan gushed about meeting the actors, writing, “Today, I met people I’ve only seen in TV dramas.” In addition, she praised the actors for their humbleness, saying, “They were all very friendly and don’t have any celebrity air at all.”
The Dong Fang Xiang Bak Kut Teh restaurant also shared about the stars’ visit, saying, “Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming celebrities to our store”. The food establishment also thanked them for their patronage, adding it was an honour to serve the stars a national heritage dish. Many fans have reacted to the post, with some hoping that the stars would return to the restaurant so that they could have the opportunity to meet them.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t shared why the five celebs were in town as there aren’t any records of an official event featuring either star. Perhaps it’s safe to say that Brian, Owen, Jazz, Penny and King Kong came to town just for some good eats. Regardless, we hope they have a great time here and hope they’ll eat to their heart’s content.
