2 years after their Super Show 9 Tour concert, Super Junior (슈퍼주니어) returned to Malaysia for their “Spin Off Half Time Tour” over the weekend, much to the excitement of fans. Their setlist, filled with timeless hits and fan favourites, offered a nostalgic journey for those who have followed them over the past two decades.

The Kuala Lumpur concert on 3rd August 2024 (Saturday) was particularly noteworthy, showcasing the group’s strong connection with Malaysian E.L.Fs. The iconic boy group treated fans to a memorable show, reaffirming their commitment to their global fanbase and appreciation for their unwavering support. Here are three highlights from the concert:

The oldest member of Super Junior, Leeteuk (이특) is well known for his goofy and random personality. So when he greeted the audience with “Assalammualaikum” instead of the normal “Annyeonghaseyo” during one of the performance openings, a buzz erupted among Malaysian fans. The unexpected greeting delighted many, showcasing the idol’s effort to connect with the local audience.

Fans were thrilled and expressed their gratitude for his thoughtful gesture, which further solidified the group’s popularity in Malaysia. This moment was widely shared and celebrated, becoming one of the memorable moments of the concert.

2. Reminiscing the iconic “Dancing Out” music video filmed in Malaysia

The members often mention this memorable experience every time they stop in Malaysia on their tour. Fans have been eagerly requesting that they remake the iconic music video, hoping to relive the nostalgia and excitement of that time. The connection between Super Junior and Kuala Lumpur remains strong, making it a cherished location in the group’s history.

3. Kyuhyun’s views on the best and worst solo performers in the group.

During their talking segment between performances, Kyuhyun (규현) was asked to choose which member he thought was the best and worst at solo performances. The youngest member of the group chose the leader, Leeteuk, as the best solo performer, praising his stage presence and charisma. This choice was met with cheers and agreement from the audience, highlighting the respect and admiration Leeteuk commands within the group and among fans.

Whereas for the worst performer category, Kyuhyun humorously selected Shindong (신동). This playful jab was taken in stride, as Shindong is well-loved for his sense of humour and lively personality. The moment added a light-hearted and enjoyable atmosphere to the event, showcasing the group’s strong bond and ability to laugh at themselves.
