It’s clear that Jackson Wang (王嘉尔/잭슨) is now a certified KL boy! Having spent the past two weeks in the city for his album’s final production, the singer has been enthusiastic about sharing his favourite spots at the recent Louis Vuitton grand opening at Pavilion Bukit Bintang.
“Here’s the thing: when you’re in a place, you have to understand and you have to live and feel the locals to truly experience the local vibe. To me, that’s what makes it feel like ‘Oh you have travelled.’ Tourist spots are dope, but to me, they don’t feel real enough,” Jackson said during an interview with Men’s Folio. Let’s dive into Jackson’s favourite spots around the city:
1. The Starling Mall

At The Starling Mall, the singer has indulged in a culinary adventure, sampling a variety of restaurants and savouring their offerings. “Half of the restaurants there I’ve eaten already. It’s amazing, they treat the food so preciously,” he revealed. The Starling Mall, known for its eclectic range of dining options, has clearly impressed Jackson with its dedication to quality and flavour.
2. Village Park Restaurant
No visit to Kuala Lumpur is complete without sampling the nation’s iconic dish, nasi lemak. The 30-year-old star has found his favourite spot at Village Park, a renowned eatery celebrated for its exceptional nasi lemak. “Damn, that nasi lemak, it’s crazy,” he said. This popular dish, characterised by its fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk, paired with spicy sambal, crispy anchovies, a boiled egg, and fried chicken has clearly won Jackson’s taste buds.
3. Aftermeal Desserts
Dessert is an important part of Jackson’s KL experience, and he’s particularly fond of the shaved ice treats from Aftermeal Desserts. He enthusiastically recommends their Thai milk tea-flavoured shaved ice, noting, “The dessert I really have to recommend is the shaved ice. The new menu they have is Thai milk tea; you gotta try that.” The combination of sweet, creamy milk tea and finely shaved ice provides a refreshing end to any meal.
4. Maulana Restaurant

The singer’s time at Maulana Restaurant was marked by a unique and refreshing experience, watermelon juice. “Crazy, we had like 5 million watermelon juices and it was so good,” he said with a laugh. This vibrant spot clearly made a lasting impression on him.
5. TREC

For a comprehensive taste of KL’s entertainment and food scene, the star frequented TREC, the largest entertainment and F&B destination in the city. With over 50 brands, including both international and regional names, TREC offers a diverse array of options for dining and nightlife. Jackson’s visits to this lively hub highlight his appreciation for KL’s vibrant and varied entertainment landscape.
