It looks like the search for the next Miss Hong Kong has officially begun! Earlier this week, over 100 pageant hopefuls showed up at the TVB headquarters to attend the first round of interviews – but photos of the girls have received mixed reactions.
The main organiser for the Miss Hong Kong Pageant (香港小姐競選), TVB, and other Hong Kong media outlets have taken to social media to get netizens excited for the upcoming pageant scheduled to take place in September. Some news outlets have also shared the names and a brief introduction of the 103 contestants who will undergo their first round of interviews for the pageant. According to reports, this interview will screen the ladies in the background, education and online presence.

Of course, the public is most excited about getting a first glimpse of the potential 2024 Miss Hong Kong lineup – but netizens were rather blunt about the contestants’ appearance. As shown in the photos, many contestants showed up at TVB City, showcasing their figures and outfits whilst carrying a bag to hold their essentials. However, some did dress rather plainly for the interview to the point where they were mistaken for staff members.
Many netizens said that the lineup for this year’s pageant seemed too bland, and no one in particular stood out for them. Others said they don’t have high hopes for this year’s competition. However, some defended the ladies, saying they have the looks but need work on their clothes and makeup. Others argue that the photographers are to blame for taking bad photos of the contestants.

There were also netizens lamenting that many contestants from this year’s competition were not even from Hong Kong – but what are your thoughts on the ladies? Did any of them catch your eye?
