Despite not being a Muslim, content creator Ceddy Ang has always shown his respect for the religion, having famously participated in fasting during the month of Ramadan and frequently speaking up about Palestine. His humility and respect for other religions have garnered him fans from different backgrounds, particularly Malaysian Muslims.
Recently, the influencer attracted attention when he visited Karangkraf to buy himself a copy of the Quran. He mentioned that he had been to the store before and noticed many beautiful Qurans being sold. “I remember that they (Karangkraf bookstore) had very beautiful Qurans and today, I’m here again. Although it might seem a bit shallow to say I want to buy a Quran because it looks beautiful, it’s indeed beautiful,” said Ceddy.

However, it seems that Ceddy’s other reason for getting a Quran may be to learn more about the religion. In the caption, the content creator mentioned that he is often asked “When are you going to convert to Islam?” whenever he joins his Muslim friends for fasting or speaks about Palestine. He stated, “Although it’s not a dangerous question, sometimes I need to be calm because I want to learn more before doing anything. Today, I decided to take this beautiful Quran and start reading it.”
After looking around at the many choices in the store, the former marketer settled on an English-translated edition, adding it’s because he cannot read Arabic and would need help from others. The video garnered a lot of attention from netizens, mostly praising the entrepreneur for his willingness to learn about Islam and being respectful towards the holy book.
Others also pointed out several moments in the video that caught their attention. Apparently, whilst opening the Quran at random, Ceddy had stopped on a page with the Surah Al-An’am, a surah (chapter) describing the power of Allah in creating the universe. He then opened another page to Surah Al-Anbiya, particularly on verses 73 to 76, which details the challenges faced by Muslim prophets like Prophet Lut A.S, Prophet Nuh A.S, Prophet Daud A.S, and Prophet Sulaiman A.S.

In the comments section, netizens were stunned that Ceddy had randomly opened the Quran to the pages showing the Surah Al-An’am. Many noted this because a viral video previously featured an Australian man who converted to Islam after reading the same surah for the first time, having asked Allah for a sign of His existence.
On the other hand, many netizens also prayed that the public figure would be able to learn more about the holy Quran with his new copy. Some also said, “It’s okay to buy the Quran because it looks beautiful Allah moves our hearts according to how the person is. He knows us best,” supporting Ceddy’s reason for purchase.
