Despite the recent controversy surrounding their agency ADOR and parent company HYBE, K-pop girl group NewJeans (뉴진스) continues their domination in the global music scene. The 5-member collective recently shared more details about their upcoming Japanese debut – including some exciting collaborations.
In March, NewJeans announced they would simultaneously release two songs to mark their Japanese debut. The double single titled “Supernatural-Right Now” will be released on 21st June, along with its accompanying music videos. ADOR has also shared teaser images of members Hanni (하니), Danielle (다니엘), Hyein (혜인), Haerin (해린) and Minji (민지) to get fans pumped about the new tracks.

In addition to the teasers, ADOR also dropped more details about the new songs, revealing that the renowned producer and rapper Pharrell Williams has taken part in the production of “Supernatural”. The agency said the pop icon participated as a songwriter and composer for the track. The song itself is said to feature a melody that evokes nostalgia.
The physical release of “Supernatural” will also be a collaboration with famed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami (村上隆). The group will release three versions of the physical album with exclusive illustrations from the visual artist. Takashi will also work on NewJeans’ “Right Now” music video, illustrating the five members in his signature cutesy style.

However, Takashi isn’t the only Japanese creative working with NewJeans because the group will team up with Japanese streetwear designer Hiroshi Fujiwara (藤原ヒロシ) for a limited apparel collaboration. The group also shared new visuals for the partnership, hinting that the main product from the collaborative apparel line will be the oversized t-shirt worn by each member. Unfortunately, not many details have been shared about this collaboration so far.
