Amidst the serene landscapes of Langkawi, a quaint restaurant found itself at the center of an unexpected yet delightful event. Zaidi Hassan, owner of Dangau Langkawi restaurant received a phone call that would soon elevate his day which he then decided to take the entire thing to Facebook.
The restaurant owner’s phone buzzed around lunch hour with an unusual request from a customer, claiming to arrive by helicopter simply for his meal. Initially dismissing it as he thought it was a prank, Zaidi’s skepticism gave away when the customer expressed genuine desire for his restaurant’s signature ‘Set Talam’. He added, “I thought it was a joke but he told me to wait as he is arriving in 15 minutes.” The customer even asked if there was a suitable spot for his helicopter to land.
True to the caller’s words, the sound of a helicopter filled the air almost twenty minutes later. Zaidi recorded the entire scene while the chopper touched down meters away from his restaurant. Emerging from the chopper were six distinguished guests, accompanied by a convoy of cars bringing forth a jovial entourage.
The diners ended up indulging in Dangau Langkawi’s iconic delectable ensemble of ‘Set Talam’ featuring fish curry, sambal petai prawns, grilled fish and an array of tantalizing sides. As a result, they spent a total of RM500 in one go. Zaidi added that he didn’t know who the guests were or where exactly they came from. All he had heard was that one of the people was called “Datuk” and thought it was simply self-explanatory.
The Facebook post has since received over 15k views with most netizens flooding his comments with positive notes. One netizen stated, “Parking shouldn’t be an issue, (the space) can park a Boeing (plane) too. Congratulations, Cik Di and Cik Na, you guys are extraordinary”, referring to the huge space nearby Dangau Langkawi restaurant where the helicopter was seen to have landed.
The rest of the comments were mainly joking around, saying that they would want to visit Zaidi Hassan’s restaurant in a flashy ride too. One netizen joked in the comments, “Cik Di can I come to your shop with a wheelbarrow instead?”
As his fancy guests left, Zaidi remained fleeting in a euphoric state, speechless over what had happened yet grateful for the support as per claimed in his Facebook post. Well, I guess this is what you call dine in style!
