Who you gonna call when there’s a strange occurrence in your neighbourhood? The original Ghostbusters – Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts – will take on a greater role in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and fans are eager to see how this will play out.
The sequel is a follow up to 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and carries the log-line, “Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.” Our heroes are going to need all the help they can get as “every ghost they’ve ever caught will be unleashed”.
At the end of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”, we saw Phoebe, Trevor, and the rest of the new generation relocating to New York City, the place where the original “Ghosbusters” took place. As a new supernatural threatens the city, the new and OG Ghosbusters must team up against the frozen entity’s cold dead hands.
“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” is directed by Gil Kenan, who wrote the script with “Afterlife” director Jason Reitman. Fun fact: Jason Reitman’s dad – Ivan – previously directed the original two “Ghostbusters” films. Ivan is also involved in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” as a producer, together with his son Jason Reitman and Jason Blumenfeld.
