Last week, Malaysian-born entrepreneur Nur Sajat revealed she was competing in the 2024 Miss Mardi Gras International Queen (Miss MaGIQ) pageant. The public figure’s participation in the annual transgender beauty pageant had many eagerly waiting for the result – but we’re here to announce the outcome from the night!
As shared through her Instagram account, Sajat proudly announced that she made it to the Top 3 spot in the pageant. While she didn’t earn the coveted Miss MaGIQ crown, Sajat did earn the title of Miss Mardi Gras Pink Triangle Princess. Along with her fellow crowned queens, Sajat will be in the Sydney Mardi Gras parade. Besides earning the Miss Mardi Gras Pink Triangle Princess title, the queer icon also revealed that she won the Best In Swimsuit title, beating the other eight candidates.
Through her Instagram, Sajat expressed her gratitude for all the help and support she received during the pageant. The influencer also shared several images and videos from the event, giving fans a look at her swimsuit catwalk and national costume, inspired by the ancient Kedahan kingdom, Langkasuka. Sajat also posted about her orange pageant gown that was custom-made by local designer Jimmy Couture.
After sharing about her wins, fans and netizens rushed to congratulate the queer icon on her new titles. Many said her two titles were well-deserved since she’s worked so hard for the past few weeks for the pageant. Many also thanked Sajat for proudly representing Malaysia in an international pageant despite constantly being criticised by Malaysians.
If you’re curious, the coveted Miss MaGIQ title was awarded to Hershey Hernandez from Cavite in the Philippines, while Vietnam’s Melanie Ngo was crowned the Miss Mardi Gras Rainbow Princess. Once again, congratulations to Sajat on this amazing achievement!
