One look at the Instagram of Malaysian-born entrepreneur Nur Sajat, and you’ll see that she’s been pretty busy lately. Besides living a happy and fun life in Australia, she’s also been busy preparing for an upcoming pageant.
Sajat will participate in the 2024 Miss Mardi Gras International Queen (MaGIQ) pageant later this week. The pageant is an annual transgender beauty pageant organised by The Filipino Lesbians and Gays Community (FLAGCOM) and Friends. The finals for the event will take place on 24th February, and the pageant winner will be paraded the following week at the Sydney Mardi Gras parade.
Like most international pageants, Miss MaGIQ will feature a segment where the contestants show off a national costume to represent their home country. Recently, Sajat took to Instagram to give a sneak preview of her golden national costume. According to the queer figure, the costume takes inspiration from Langkasuka, the ancient Kedahan kingdom. The costume contains batik elements and gold jewellery, including intricate headgear. Unfortunately, the costume isn’t complete yet, but Sajat mentioned that she put together the costume herself.
In another Instagram post, the public figure also showed a behind-the-scenes look at her photoshoot for the pageant. Donning a simple white ensemble, Sajat looked confident as she posed for the camera. With the costume preview and the behind-the-scenes footage, Sajat has gotten fans eager to see her in the pageant. Many praised her national costume, saying she looked amazing. Some also said they were happy to see Sajat proudly representing Malaysia and commended her effort with the costume.
We’re also excited to see Nur Sajat in the Miss MaGIQ finals – and we wish her all the best!
