They say a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so many would do all they can to ensure a memorable event – even dropping a fortune. While local entrepreneur Haliza Maysuri isn’t the one getting married in this case, her son is – and that’s enough reason for her to give him the best wedding she can afford.
The hijab brand founder and fashion designer has been sharing about her son Syazwan’s wedding for weeks through her social media pages. Syazwan and his bride Sarah said their “I Dos” at the lavish wedding held last weekend at the St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. According to local news outlet mStar, the grand wedding cost a whopping RM3.5 million. The cost included the wedding rings, gifts, venue, outfits, and jewellery – to name a few.
The entrepreneur, known for her opulent lifestyle, said she did not hesitate to spend a fortune on the wedding as Syazwan is her eldest son. It’s also the first time she’s welcomed a daughter-in-law into her family, making the event all the more special. One of the most expensive components of the wedding is arguably the bride’s wedding outfit. The set, designed by local designer Rizman Ruzaini, reportedly costs over RM300,000 and includes five Swarovski stones.
Besides the wedding dress, Sarah also donned an exclusive piece of jewellery on her wedding day. The tiara she wore during the ceremony was specially designed by Swarovski’s Global Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert, making it a one-of-a-kind tiara. Embellished with 233 Swarovski crystals, the tiara designed for the Vienna Opera Ball was given to the entrepreneur as a gift for her son’s special day. Haliza apparently tried to purchase the tiara from Swarovski many times but to no avail until the wedding.
Of course, the bride and the groom weren’t the only ones dressed to impress on the wedding day because Haliza also appeared in a RM170,000 dress designed by local designer Faizul Suraini. Haliza also revealed that the couple will hold a second ceremony on 2nd March, which may be as equally impressive as their first.
Congratulations to Syazwan and Sarah on their wedding! Given the grand scale of the ceremony, we’re sure the memory of their wedding will stay with them for a lifetime.
