The 10-day royal wedding between Prince Mateen of Brunei and Dayang Anisha Rosnah Adam (Anisha Isa-Kalebic) continues. The public witnessed the royal powdering ceremony earlier this week where both His Royal Highness and his bride looked stunning in their traditional red and gold attire.
Yesterday (Thursday, 11th January), was probably the most important day of the 10-day celebration as it was the royal solemnisation ceremony. One of the highlights during the event? Apparently, it was hearing Prince Mateen speak in Malay. Watch:

Yesterday was finally the royal solemnisation day; the day when Prince Mateen and Anisha Isa-Kalebic were officially registered as husband and wife. The ceremony took place at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and a video of an imam officiating the ceremony and His Royal Highness accepting his bride went viral on social media.
The young Prince, dressed in all-white traditional wedding attire, can be heard reciting the acceptance dialogue and netizens were definitely surprised to hear his speaking voice. Many commented that this was their first time hearing the Brunei Royal family member speak in public while others compared his accent to Bangsar locals. Others were simply swooned at just the sound of his voice.
This actually wasn’t the first time we got to hear Prince Mateen’s voice. Back in 2022, many were enchanted after hearing His Royal Highness conversing in Malay with field performers at the “Ramah Mesra Bersama Rakyat Temburong” festival. While there were those who poked fun at the Prince’s accent when speaking Malay, the majority congratulated the bride and groom on their big day.
Of course, a wedding is not complete without an official ceremony which will take place on 14th January along with the parade at Brunei’s capital, Bandar Seri Begawan followed by the royal dining ceremony on 15 January. Stay tuned for more Royal wedding updates.
