After months of preparations and even a sneak peek not too long ago, the 10-day royal wedding ceremony between Prince Mateen of Brunei and Dayang Anisha Rosnah Adam (Anisha Isa-Kalebic) has officially begun!
The first day, which was the proposal or engagement ceremony, took place on Saturday (7th January) and fans couldn’t be happier for the Royal couple. Before we go into more details of what’s to come, let’s see the highlights of a private event that took place over the weekend.
From the previous article, it was assumed that a pre-wedding photoshoot took place at Anisha’s family home but it has now been confirmed that it was actually Prince Mateen’s fiance’s Khatam Quran ceremony in conjunction with her wedding with His Royal Highness. According to Eh! Malaysia, the future princess wore an all-white baju kurung designed by Teh Firdaus, who was specifically chosen to prepare the beautiful garment.
“Honoured to play a role in the Brunei royal wedding. Witness the grace of Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah Adam Isa Kalebic in our custom-made baju kurung in intricately woven tenunan Brunei, as she embraces elegance during her Khatam Quran event,” said the designer himself on Instagram, however, it is unknown if the garment maker is also in charge for what Anisha will be wearing for the solemnisation and wedding ceremony. The Khatam Quran dress was not the only thing that caught everyone’s attention as the bride-to-be wowed netizens after a video of her reciting the Quran went viral.

Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Luke Arnold appears to be one of the guests for the Royal wedding as he attended the proposal ceremony and is looking forward to the Gendang Jaga Jaga (Official Opening) Ceremony which will take place later today (Monday, 8th January). While there’s currently not much information on today’s event so far, we do know a bit of what’s happening in the coming days.
Yesterday, Borneo Bulletin posted a video of the final rehearsals of the upcoming procession as part of the royal wedding ceremony. In the video, we can see that Istana Nurul Iman has been fully decorated and the seats have all been arranged for the big day. Rehearsal for the parade around Brunei’s capital, Bandar Seri Begawan was also shown where the royal couple will also soon participate.
According to the official announcement and invitation a few months back, the solemnisation ceremony will take place on 11th January (Thursday) followed by the official wedding ceremony and parade, which will be held on 14th January (Sunday) at the palace. The 10-day ceremony will officially end on 16th January (Tuesday).
