Bukit Bintang is undeniably one of the hottest spots in Kuala Lumpur. Over the weekend, many gathered there to celebrate the holidays but unfortunately, an incident occurred at Pavilion KL where a Christmas decoration fell on top of a shopper. Thankfully, he only suffered minor injuries and the mall has since addressed the problem.
However, that wasn’t the only bad thing to have happened at the shopping and entertainment district. On Christmas Day (Monday, 25th December), a video circulated online got netizens raging over people’s irresponsible behaviour. Watch:

As seen in the video above, many locals and visitors were having fun celebrating the festive holiday together by spraying each other with canned snow sprays and blowing party horns. As one would expect, the busy streets were overflowed with trash from the large crowd gathered at the vicinity.
Most of the attendees that night didn’t bother to care for the mess as they continued to celebrate the night away. The original videos posted by @ZarifHakimi__on Twitter had netizens fuming over the people’s behaviour when it comes to celebrations such as this.
Many criticised everyone who participated in the event that night for not cleaning up after themselves. Others were not entirely surprised as this has happened before, especially during the New Year celebrations. Some also claimed to have seen the Bukit Bintang McDonald’s outlet filled with customers despite the ongoing boycott.
One netizen praised the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for the fast cleanup, claiming that the area was spotless by the time they drove by at 4am. At the time of writing, DBKL has yet to address the recent situation and if they will take any action to prevent this from happening for the upcoming New Year celebration.
There’s nothing wrong with partying and having fun but let’s take this as a reminder to throw away our trash in the bins provided in the area so we can keep our surroundings clean and safe.
