As the saying goes: “There is a time and place for everything“. And as this lady recently learned at the cost of her flight, that includes doing your 11.11 (Double Eleven) shopping!
On 11th November, a famous large-scale promotion famously known as Double Eleven is usually held for a single day. Understandably enough, many online shoppers love taking advantage of the sales offered on the day. Unfortunately, this lady ended up missing her flight when she got too engrossed while shopping.
According to Chinese media, a young lady had arrived at Shanghai Airport on 11th November for her flight. As most do, she arrived early to avoid missing the plane. However, while waiting, she decided to pull out her phone for a quick shopping spree, especially since the famous 11.11 aka Double Eleven sale was ongoing.
The lady reportedly got so engrossed in her online shopping that when she finally looked up from her phone, she was horrified to realise the plane had already taken off without her. Understandably enough, she broke down in tears. Circulated photos showed her sitting on the floor, crying while wiping away her tears with her hands.
Thankfully, once she managed to sort out her emotions, the airport staff were able to help her change her flight to the next one. She later managed to catch her new flight, and was out of the airport as scheduled, albeit a little later than planned. The lady later added that she had learned her lesson, and would never again miss her boarding time because of her online shopping.
Most netizens were quick to sympathize with her plight, with a few even finding her reaction to the whole incident funny and cute. A few criticised her carelessness, but others spoke up for her, claiming they too had been guilty of getting engrossed on their phones while waiting for a flight.
Well, it certainly is a lesson well learnt, and a good reminder for the rest of us! Hopefully, the lady will be able to take her time with the next 11.11 sale without missing another flight.
