It’s been a while since RapidKL began implementing women-only coaches for the MRT Kajang Line trains – but unfortunately, there are still men who board the coaches and stubbornly refuse to leave.
TikTok user Rafa posted yet another incident of a man boarding the women-only MRT coach on the Kajang Line and refusing to leave despite being asked to. In her video, the Tanzanian said she had politely asked the Malaysian man to leave the coach multiple times, even before she began filming. However, he remained in his place, even telling Rafa to “shut up” when she approached him and proceeded to answer a phone call.

In the captions, Rafa said that he only began talking on the phone after she began filming him to make it seem like she was disturbing him. She also said that the man had shouted at her multiple times before she managed to start recording. Rafa added that there were no security guards or auxiliary police during the incident.
In response to the video, many women had thanked Rafa for bravely calling out the man, even if he ignored her. Some netizens also poked fun at the man in the video, saying he is only on the phone to hide his embarrassment of being called out and filmed. The video also left many women to lament about the ongoing issue of men still boarding the women-only MRT coaches, adding that RapidKL is too lax towards the wrongdoers. Some also said the problem stems from men who don’t understand the purpose of the pink coaches, which were implemented to ensure women’s safety.

It is worth pointing out that there were responsible men who took the initiative to chase away men from these special coaches. We hope that men will be more respectful of the women-only coaches – and that RapidKL will take a firmer stance on this issue.
