A TikTok video has recently gone viral, showing that a small gesture for one’s birthday can mean more than expensive presents. The video posted by user @/madikemadi shows the young man and his friends planning a surprise for his mother, Atie, while she’s at work at a KFC branch.

The video started with the son hiding while a friend distracts his mother by pretending to be ordering at a kiosk. While she was distracted, the son came out to surprise her with a birthday cake in hand. Pleasantly shocked by the gesture, Atie playfully slapped her son’s face before blowing out the candles on the cake. The video then shows Atie being fed a bite of cake by her son and the rest of the friend group eating the cake in the restaurant.
Many netizens were touched by the young man’s sweet gesture towards his hardworking mother, calling him a good son for planning the surprise. Many also said that even though it was a simple celebration, it was so sweet that they started tearing up. The netizens also took the opportunity to send their birthday wishes to the mother, who also commented on the video to thank her son and his friends for the lovely surprise.
