Religion has always been a very sensitive topic and many have been accused of either disrespecting religion or using it for clout. This young man did not feel an ounce of shame despite being called out multiple times for using Christianity as his aesthetics.
Yesterday evening (Sunday, 1st October), a netizen who goes by Wentour or @cass48374 posted a thread on Twitter to expose an individual for disrespecting Christianity and hoped that he’d be arrested by authorities. Here’s what happened:
In the thread, the netizen called out a young man named Raziq for the offensive content he posted on both his TikTok and Instagram accounts. According to Wentour, the issue started a few months ago when Raziq posted photos on TikTok of him and a friend posing next to graves in a Christian cemetery late at night. Many have called him out for the offensive photoshoot, saying that he has no respect for the deceased.
Unfortunately, despite the backlash, the shameless young man refused to apologise for offending everyone. As for the controversy, it is believed that as a fan of metal music, he wanted to replicate what many artists had done; by having Christian imagery in their photoshoots, music videos and album art covers. Some who claimed to know Raziq personally came forward to apologise on his behalf saying that they’ve tried advising him but it fell on deaf ears.
It was also shown that the individual posted the same photos on his Instagram including a screenshot of a page from a Batman comic book issue “The Blasphemy of Batman” where the DC hero was seen observing a bloodied/vandalised Jesus Christ statue in a church. Wentour ended the thread by tagging the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in hopes that they’d take action against the accused.
The post attracted the attention of many, especially Malaysian Christians, who condemned Raziq for disrespecting their religion. Muslims also joined in and criticised the young man for his actions. After a quick check, Raziq has since deactivated both his IG and TikTok at the time of writing.
So far, there has been no statement from PDRM nor updates from Wentour regarding this issue. Let’s hope that justice will be served soon.
