Delivery riders have been in the news lately – but not for the best reasons. After the Foodpanda rider who received a brand new motorcycle revealed that he lost his vehicle because of an expired road tax, many netizens have been critical of delivery riders for taking advantage of the law.

Recently, a video of a Foodpanda delivery rider in Puchong went viral, showing him deliberately wrecking a motorcycle. The video uploaded on the Facebook page ‘Warga Wilayah’ garnered attention from netizens, curious to know what had compelled the rider to cause damage to his motorcycle.

After the video went viral, Serdang District Police Assistant Commissioner A A Anbalagan released a statement clarifying the incident. He said that the incident happened because the rider was unhappy that his motorcycle was to be confiscated by authorities after he had failed to pay his debt for the vehicle for 34 months.

Many netizens reacted to reports of the incident, mostly showing disappointment at the Foodpanda rider’s behaviour. While they did show sympathy for the rider losing his mode of transport and source of income, many still believed he was wrong because he failed to pay for his debt.

Some criticised him for his actions, calling him entitled for expecting authorities to side with him despite breaking the law. A few netizens also mocked the situation, saying the rider is probably hoping for any kind-hearted influencer to help him.

What do you think about the Foodpanda rider’s action? Was it an act of entitlement? Or was it just in the heat of the moment? Watch the video of the incident below:
