There are now many ways for one to apply for a job or to inquire about a job vacancy. Many will submit their applications through email, social media DMs, or even job-seeking websites such as JobStreet.

However, it seems that JobStreet is no longer as reliable as it was a decade ago. This netizen on Twitter listed down every trouble they’ve faced when applying for jobs on JobStreet.

For the longest time, JobStreet has been one of the top recruitment websites in Malaysia. Many have used the site to look for their first jobs or internships. Sadly, the site hasn’t been performing  up to expectations. A netizen who goes by @thegrxyvibe received a message from an anonymous user via NGL complaining about how they’d rarely get updates from JobStreet.

The User Interface designer agreed with the anonymous user and listed down their own personal opinion regarding the site. “I’ve also applied through JobStreet but would very rarely get a response (I don’t even know why). I also see that there are not many salaries offered there,” they said. The netizen ended their post by recommending alternative ways for people to try out when job seeking which includes: Hiredly, Indeed, Foundit, LinkedIn, and recruitment companies.

After the post went viral, many netizens came forward with their stories and opinions about JobStreet as they’ve apparently had similar experiences. Some agreed that JobStreet is now outdated while others believe that it could also depend on the job one is applying for. One netizen claimed that the site is currently undergoing some changes after being acquired by Australian job-seeking platform, Seek.

There were also those who reminisced when they found their first jobs through JobStreet years ago. If JobStreet is currently revamping itself then let’s hope that it’ll return to its former glory days.

What do you think? Do you agree that JobStreet is no longer reliable?
