Here in Malaysia, we love our fried chicken so much that some might even start a fight for it. But can we agree on which brand of fried chicken is the best?

Twitter user @/SyedAkramin recently shared his experience trying out a local fried chicken brand, Muiz Hot Chicken or Ayam Goreng Muiz. Syed praised the flavour, saying it’s comparable to KFC or McDonalds’. He added that some would even prefer it over the other brands. The local brand began operations in 2013 and has over 140 branches around Malaysia.

Following the tweet, many netizens shared their opinion on the chicken brand, but most disagreed with Syed. While the chicken is delicious, many say Muiz still has a long way to go before it can catch up to the bigger fast-food chains. Some of them also mentioned the inconsistent quality of the chicken at different branches compared to McDonald’s or KFC. Some added that the price is also pretty expensive, given that most Muiz branches are just street stalls.

In response to the comments, Syed acknowledged the lack of quality control for each Muiz Hot Chicken branch, adding that the owner should work to improve on it. However, he stood his ground and maintained his stance on the brand. Others have also said they enjoy Muiz’s chicken and even said Muiz has its own image and recipe, incomparable to fast-food restaurants.

We’re all for seeing local brands succeed – so hopefully, Muiz uses these comments to improve their food and services.
