Bomb threats should never be taken lightly and this Malaysian airline made the right call to turn the plane around when a passenger allegedly started making threats about damaging the aircraft.
A possible bomb threat on land can be just as terrifying and we can only imagine how scared shoppers were when they were ordered to evacuate a mall in Ipoh after staff received word that the building might blow up.

Yesterday (Wednesday, 23rd August), an employee from AEON Mall Klebang, Ipoh received a mysterious phone call that was believed to be a bomb threat. The premise’s alarm was immediately triggered following the threat around 5:30pm and everyone, including the staff was ordered to evacuate the building.
Videos and photos of the incident were posted online showing confused and anxious customers exiting the shopping centre and standing outside the premises while waiting for the police to arrive. The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM)’s bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the scene to investigate the possible threat with assistance from the fire and rescue department.
The mall was ordered to cease operations until local authorities confirmed the building’s safety. Around 11:25pm last night, AEON Mall Malaysian posted an official statement on Facebook to inform customers that the Ipoh branch had been given clearance to resume operation the following morning at 10am. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we truly appreciate your patience and continuous support,” the statement reads.
As for the anonymous person who made the threat, PDRM confirmed that the perpetrator had been arrested. In a statement posted on Facebook today (Thursday, 24th August), it was said there were no suspicious objects found inside the mall after a thorough investigation. The 38-year-old suspect was apprehended at his home around 9:30pm and admitted to making the false bomb threat.
There are currently no updates on why the suspect made the threat in the first place. Regardless, we’re glad that everyone is safe and we hope that the customers and mall staff are doing okay after the terrifying ordeal.
