A lot of people have been anxious about travelling by flight lately, even those who don’t even have a fear of flying, and we don’t blame them. After the second case of a passenger attempting to open the emergency exit door midflight, who wouldn’t be terrified that it could happen again?
While this man did not commit anything that extreme, his sudden outburst was enough to make the pilot turn the plane around for an emergency landing. Here’s what happened:
#Sydney Airport is suffering at the hands of this lunatic as he has taken #MH122 hostage. Praying for everyone's safety and well being.
Where is Airport security?! Its been well over an hour since the plane has landed back!!! pic.twitter.com/rSWExD9EXm

Yesterday (Monday, 14th August), Malaysian Airlines flight MH122 had no choice but to turn the plane around and return to Sydney, Australia after a man suddenly started acting aggressively toward the other passengers during the flight. Videos of the incident have started circulating on social media.
In one video, the man, who claimed to be a Muslim, started preaching about Islam and even asked the other passengers to answer his questions about God. The plane’s cabin crew could be seen trying to calm the situation down but it quickly escalated to the man arguing with another passenger onboard. It was alleged that he started making threats to damage the plane as well.
Another video was posted, showing the man performing a prayer in the middle of the aisle, inconveniencing everyone on the flight. While all of this was happening, the pilot turned the plane around to return to Sydney International Airport for an emergency landing where the man was later arrested by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
@zero.borders He started shouting and threatened everyone on board and then started praying #mh122 #malaysiaairline #sydney #airport #kualalumpur #hostage #hostages #AFP
Thankfully, the aircraft landed safely at the airport where the 45-year-old passenger was taken into custody. Shortly after the incident, Australian authorities released a statement informing the public that the arrested passenger will be charged later that evening.
As compensation for the trouble, all passengers boarding the MH122 will be transferred to the next available flight once they got clearance from local authorities. At the time of writing, there have been no updates regarding the case. We’re glad that no one got hurt during or after the incident and we can only imagine the anxiety everyone must’ve felt.
